Factor-50-Fun
I met my new colleagues at Woolloomooloo Wharf at midday, where we boarded the impressive Enigma, which would sail us around the coast for the day. The weather was on our side, with temperatures reaching 30 degrees before we had set sail.
After smothering our bodies from head to toe in factor 50, we grabbed a drink from the bar and headed up onto the boat's top deck. The view of the city from the water was incredible.
As a Brit who had only arrived in Sydney 1 month earlier, the view of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House looked like a perfect picture postcard.
Our first stop was at the beautiful Hermit Bay for a quick swim before continuing around the coast, where we would stop for lunch.
Did someone say ‘More Wine’?
We continued our celebrations at the idyllic Watsons Bay Hotel for everyone’s favourite time of day – lunchtime! After some more drinks, we tucked into a delicious lunch of fresh seafood and prime steaks.
What more could you want? Ice cream!
Just enough time for a sweet treat before we boarded Enigma again for our final part of the afternoon.
The secret Santa that doesn’t secretly steal
I was touched to be included in the Secret Santa team despite it being my first day at Indago. After picking our gifts from the pile, we were all given one chance to steal.
Excellent – I had my eye on Luke’s Nicolas Cage mug, and I wasn’t going to let this opportunity pass me by.
#SorryNotSorry, Luke ..
Some other presents were a burrito blanket, ramen hoody and cat pillow. Priceless gifts if you ask me.
Our final stop of the afternoon was for some rock jumping. Some team members were braver (or more stupid?) than others. I watched them from the boat's safety, but it looked fun.
Maybe next year…
The big finale
It had been an incredible day, but the fun wasn’t over yet. Once we were back on solid ground, we made our way to the Tilbury Hotel for more (yes, more) drinks.
It wouldn’t be a proper Christmas party without a few rounds of shots and some questionable dance moves.
The rest of the night is a little hazy, but one thing’s for sure: I could not have had a better first day at Indago and am looking forward to what more is to come!
